The expedition

This is a three-day, two-night boat expedition down Palawan’s wild west coast, from the karst cliffs of El Nido to the quiet bay of Port Barton.

You start among the limestone towers of Bacuit Bay and work slowly south through some of the emptiest water on the coast, until Port Barton opens ahead of the bow. The sea out here is almost yours alone. You will snorkel reefs that see only a handful of visitors, land on sandbars that vanish with the tide, and fall asleep to the sound of waves on beaches with nobody else around. It is the rare trip that ends somewhere calmer than it began, and many guests plan it that way on purpose.

Where you’ll roam

Every departure sails the same four stretches of coast, and each stretch holds more good stops than one day can use. The crew picks among them each morning, with the tide, the wind, and the coast guard’s advisory in hand:

Bacuit Bay you sail out of El Nido between the limestone islands, the busiest water of the trip, and the last crowds you’ll see.
Malampaya Sound and the Taytay coast a protected sanctuary where Irrawaddy dolphins and dugongs still live wild, with no resorts and no signal.
Long Beach and the empty shoreline fourteen kilometres of the Philippines’ longest beach, sliding past for an afternoon.
The San Vicente islands and Port Barton Bay reefs, sandbars, and the slow arrival into the calmest town on the coast.

Departures run on fixed dates from October to May, when the west coast is at its calmest: pick yours in the calendar.
Up to 18 guests per departure.
The route adapts to the weather and the tide, and the coast guard clears every departure.
In case the coast guard or the weather cancels a departure, you get a full refund, or you can reschedule or use your payment as credit for any of our other tours.
